The next video was the entry for a contest organized by the gum company Trident, the brief was very simple, from 10 to 20 seconds for their new product called Trident Splash. I was thinking in some ideas for the entry, one needed much more effort in filming locations and actors, in other words complexity and $$$. The time passed, and the more complex idea was put behind, but I’m sure it will come eventually for another contest or even a short film, who knows,,,, Then I was having the idea of what would the life of the metro chauffeur be like, and I ended doing this animated piece about it, the character and stage design was done in just half day and the animation in 1 night, I had trouble uploading it at the end because of server problems so I don’t know if the video made it on time or what, but at least I’m very happy with the result and more important I just realized that I’m capable of working faster each time.
In other news, I will be posting in the next week another video entry in which Grace and I won the 2nd place and it’s very probable we’ll travel to NY soon.
Right now I’ve been working in 3 different websites at the moment, and another 2 projects that involve flash. Apart from the freelance stuff I’m teaching at my Uni, 3 different courses and a workshop (team-teaching of course) which is why I don’t have so many time to upload my new stuff in to the website, but actually I’m enjoying teaching right now, I don’t see my self doing it from now on but It’s a good experience.

Ok It’s a little bit late but Happy New Year!, I’ve been out of this world completely, I wish the reason was because of vacations but no! I even worked the night of New Year’s Eve!, and even sick!, just to finish this piece on time for my final project at school. I really liked it, maybe someday I write about the whole story behind this project but for now just go watch it.

Today was a very special date for me that I will remember for a long long time, before deciding to move back to Mexico, and before Cannes there was this little idea that later evolved to a big project called FOR LESS OR FREE, this project was screened in the last Cannes Film Fest Out of Competition and nothing really came out from that screening except from good compliments from my friends, family and the people that helped me out with the short film. The time passed and I was not very comfortable with the idea of just keeping the short film saved in my hard drive and later I found this great event from RTVE (spanish television) called the INVI awards which stand for Internet Audio-Visuals Innovation Awards, I hurried up to gather all the information needed for the entry because I actually found them just by coincidence a day before the deadline! hehe and some time after that, exactly 3 days ago I received an email asking for my confirmation of assistance for the event, I just thought they were inviting ever contestant but no! I later found that in the website there were the finalists, and FOR LESS OR FREE was one of them in the category of NON-FICTION DOCUMENTARY, I was so so happy that at least the film would be one of the finalists, so I immediately asked Grace Montoya, which is the editor and the responsible of some editing and the coolest intro titles ever =), that maybe our friend Camila Escat (which helped us in the documentary and is one of the coolest girls from Spain that I’ve met), would be interested in coming to the awards ceremony, she accepted! but today i received another e-mail from the organizers that she needed to say a speech ” in case we won”, hehe so I thought “this is very suspicious” hehe later that day the ceremony was live on the internet at RTVE’s website and the moment was ready.
First the nominees, then a very important executive from France came to the stage to call the winner but first he says: “I’m going to call the winner in English” and I was shocked because our short film was the only one with English Name in the title!! the time freezed for a second, and the next thing I remember was hearing “the winner is…. FOR LESS OR FREE” hooolly ssss….moke! I shouted so hard that my cat (TOBY) got scared! hehe, I was so happy and Grace which was also watching the ceremony live, called me and I couldn’t hang correctly my cellphone in my hand!,, Camila came to the stage to collect the trophy and the big check hehe and she did a killer speech in behalf of me! seriously!
The making of the video was possible thanks to Reel Ideas Studio (Claire Erwin, Bun Lee, Jim Kenney and Sebastien De Castell) for the microgrant they gave us, the people from all over the world interested in participating, the musicians involved Asevatu – Fernando Perez and Jonah, and of course the team that helped me with the footage, interviews etc.. etc.. you know who you are =), Thank you so much to all of you!

Hi everyone, long time no see, a lot things going on but finally I manage to get some time to upload this new illustration for a contest based in Mexico, one of the guidelines being the use of a skull, so this piece shows the skull and the use of the word ‘mister’ translated into different languages, also I’m using the word skull and calavera just to make a clear statement of what this piece means.
I was truly inspired by the french illustrator Skwak which his work is amazing.
